Yesterday my 8 year old had her end of year party at school- while helping in her classroom i noticed that her armpits smelled. Is she too young for it? If not- how do I explain why and how to use it to her?

  1. is she smells, she can use it already..

  2. sounds like it's time -buy antiperspirant.

  3. girls can start hitting puberty(stinky pits, period, any of that) between ages 8-13 usually and of course u should know wen it ends. u just have to slowly teach her thing by thing as they start.

  4. No,it doesn't matter how old they are. It matters when the need it. i say yes in your case. Hope I helped!!!

  5. If she is stinkin then she can use it. No big deal. Show how mommy uses it after every shower and she will smell pretty just like mom.

  6. Nobody is too young for deoderant. You should start whenever she needs it. 4-5 grade is a good time to start.

  7. yeah if she is startn to smell she probably needs to use it. just tell her that every girl uses it at some point in their life and let her observe you using it

  8. If more frequent bathing doesn't solve it, then its time for deorderant.  Girls start puberty early and all it takes is to demonstrate how to use dodorant to her.

  9. Kids are entering puberty at an earlier age now, so she might need deodorant, just explain that as we get older we get smelly and need to have good hygiene , which includes deo and washing good with soap and water.

  10. If she's started puberty, which it sounds like she has, then give it to her.

Just go to the supermarket or drug store or whatever with her and show her all the different scents, and let her pick out her favorite. (Little kids love smells.) Then say, you rub this under your arm pit and it will smell just like this, and not yucky! She'll totally go for it!

  11. She should start wearing it for sure. My daughter (almost 8) had to start wearing it this year for the same reason. She is doing fine. Good luck!

  12. Puperty can start almost anythime. Some could be slow while others get it early. Your daughter could be experiencing the early stages of puperty. I would start getting her some of her own personal deotorant.

  13. My daughter is 9 and she is beginning to have a "pit" smell in the afternoon too.  It is perfectly fine for her to start using it now.  I'd stick to a solid, not aerosol because it will be easier to apply.  Get something for sensitive skin too.  Dove makes good deodorants.

  14. When you there is perspiration and you notice an odor it is definitely time. There really is not a talk you just say, "You will be doing what Mommy does in her regular hygiene ritual." Something along those lines... Would you rather handle the problem now or have her peers tease her for it?

  15. If her armpits have started to smell, she should start using it, otherwise the other kids may make fun of her.  Again, like mentioned above, tell her that everyone starts to use it sometime.  In a first grade classroom that I observed in, one of the girls in the class needed to start using deodorant because her armpits had an odor.

  16. 11 or 10

]my 11 and 12 year old son now wear deodorant

  17. No she not to young. It really depends upon the child. If she has started with fuss under her arm pits, she might need it. first I would make sure she washes well under her arms when she baths and dry the pits off. It may have been a one time thing of not washing right or sweating to much.

If she does need it, take her to the store and point her to the deodarant. have her smell them.. some of them smell so good, she will be more than happy to put it on if you explain that she getting older and that her body seems to be matureing faster than other girls so she will need to start using it.. because that what more mature girls do.. ( every girls wants to be older) I wouldn't worry about it to much..
