When do hamsters go into heat??

i know its like every four days but can i find like what specific day?? any help will do!!!!

Are you trying to breed? Please reconsider this, as many end up dying. It's harder to find homes for them than you think! Also, they could have many complications!

BUT, to find out, put a male in the cage for a few minutes. If they don't try and mate, she is not in heat. Try a few days later, and watch to see.

Syrian hamsters will go into heat every 3 days. Suggest to your friend that he/she visit a couple of websites for information:

The British Hamster Association is also a really great site for information on color varieties and the standard of perfect that should be used to judge animals for their breeding quality.

If you do a search for hamster breeders, you will find some breeders have websites with really good information. I can't remember the name, but there is one in AZ that has a lot of really great hamster breed and care info.

What kind of hamster is it?  A syrian or dwarf?

Take notice of when she is very active.  When she seems to be running around the cage a lot stroke her back.  If she stretches out or flattens out that might mean she is in heat.  

You can try handling the male hamster a bit and then having the female sniff your fingers and see how she reacts.  

It's tricky with syrians because if she isn't in heat she may attack the male.

There is not a specific way but there is a way to tell when your hamster is in heat. First of all, your right in the fact that it is every four days. It lasts for 12 hours during the night. Every night at 9:00, tell you friend to look at the genital region of your hamster, by picking her up and turning her upside down, or looking through the bottom of a clear plastic container. When she is in heat, the area will look swollen and red. It will be noticeably different from the night before, or the night after, when it will look just like the color of her skin. Good luck!!!
