  1. you can start formula at any time and also do the breast

  2.    Whenever you want to. As long as he'll take them both it's fine to do both. I've been doing a little of formula, but mainly breast with my two month old because it doesn't seem like she's getting enough from me, but I still want her to get the nutrition from my breast as well. So it's up to you.

  3. I wouldn't give formula until after six months unless I absolutely had to, and here's why:

The infant intestinal tract is "open".  What that means is that the lining isn't fully developed/closed and different pathagens and proteins can pass through these openings directly into the blood stream.  That's great for breastmik; the antibodies present can go straight into the baby's bloodstream and help build immunity and fight off disease.  However, formula has particles which can pass through these openings and cause allergies.  Also, formula completely changes the flora balance of the gut...literally one bottle of formula increases the bad bacteria, and it takes two-six weeks of exclusive breastfeeding to get the good and bad bacteria back in balance.  It also delays the maturation (closing) of the intestinal tract, leading baby vulnerable to allergies and illness for longer.

The intestinal tract matures somewhere around four to six months; it's different in all babies.  Hence, why I said six months, just so you could be fairly certain that baby had a closed gut.

If you need to leave baby for a bit, you could always pump some breastmilk that could be bottle-fed to him.  Great job on breastfeeding so far.

  4. Yes it is entirely upto you how you feed your baby, just do what is best for the both of you and what you feel comfortable with. You can keep him on just the breast (some women still breast feed exclusively until their babies are weaned onto normal cows milk) or combine the both or wean him onto the bottle. Just do what you think is best for you and your boy and you wont go wrong. Good luck x

  5. It is said that breast milk is the best thing for a baby and that it should be breast fed until it is over a year to 18 months old, still some parents continue to breast fed well after 18 months.  As for formula, you can start your baby on it at any time in it's life.  I have a baby that I take care of on a daily basis and niece that I see once and a while, both of them have been on formula since they were born just over three months ago, their mothers chose not to breast fed because it hurt them to much during the process.  Both babies are very healthy and are very beautiful, happy and energetic, they have very healthy skin, hair and eyes very beautiful.  Although breast feeding is better, formula is a very viable alternative, so go a head and give him some.

If some days you are not up to breast feeding go a head and give your baby some formula, but check with your babies doctor to make sure you will be giving your baby the one that will best suit your babies body's needs.

Good luck and congratulations on the birth of your son.

Take care and Keep the Faith....Peace....cya....
