When do items really fall off your credit?

Is is 7 years from the delequency date? Is it 7 years from the date the item was first reported on your credit wether bad or good? Is it seven years from the date opened? I recived my credit report from Transunion they have the estimated removal dates and those dates seem to be 7 years from the date it was reported as opened.

  1. Per the Fair Credit Reporting Act derogatory accounts should fall off your report 7-years from the date of first delinquency which works out to 7-years and 180-days.

    Note:

    The statute of limitations is a different time line and has nothing to do with how long accounts are legally allowed to show on peoples credit reports.
