  1. Insects is so big and divergent taxonomic group, that it is very hard to say "when" do they breed. Actually, during all warm days, there are some insects that reproduce, during days or nights.

    I'd say most of them do die before winter, leaving their offspring in the form of an egg or larvae to become active the next spring. But there are insects with life cycles of, i.e., 7 years - a larvae lives 7 years in the ground, then matures and may cause damages to forest stands or grazing damages (bugs, locusts).
