Two days ago I looked up plane tickets on Y! Travel from Chicago to ND. I need to go there next weekend. Tickets were $550. Now they are $975. Is there a chance they will lower again between now and before I have to leave (the 8th)?

  1. Travel sites like travelocity and priceline have the cheapest dates availible and you can set a range like from aug 1- aug 7

They will find the cheapest price.

Most tickets change on weekends dramatically so try to go during the week or on sundays.

  2. They change ALL THE TIME. Is there a chance they will go down again? Yes. Is there a chance they will go up again? Yes. Which horse do you want to bet on?

  3. look during the week during the day. they normally change throughout the day and they also depending on the flight and how booked it is. If it isn't near full they will run specials very close to the flight date!

  4. They can change minute to minute depending on the number of remaining tickets, under airlines' "Yield Management" software so keep checking (on more sites than just Yahoo!!!!!!!).  Also, as your departure date gets close try Priceline or one of the last-minute-bargains sites, and then pray.

If your trip cn be expanded a couple of days and your destination in North Dakota is served by Amtrak try checking remaining seats on the train, too.

  5. They tend to change 14 days prior to departure.

Unless a very ast minute seat sale is announced, I doubt the price will get lower.

Try http://www.kayak.com for cheap flights.  It also has a graph that shows you when the prices change for a specific route.
