Question:

When do puppies start losing their "puppy energy"? ?

My Shih Tzu just recently went through her first time "in heat" and it seems like now her energy is decreased by about 30-50% from what it used to be. She is 8 months old. Is this normal or is something wrong with her? She still plays, but not for as long and she sleeps a lot more now. Thank you for your advice!

  1. It varies by breed but generally by 2 years a dogs "puppy energy" is gone.

  2. Dogs start to clam down around the age of 2 but become an adult at 3 or 4. Shih Tzu normally mature and calm down by 2 so I don't think it is normal.

  3. they start to settle are 2 but they still have quite a bit. but your dog should lose it by the age of 3.

  4. My Rosie is 7 years old, she still has her puppy energy.

  5. I really don't know for sure. But my puppy is about 8 and a half months old.Her name is Pepper and she is a mini Schnauzer and is still up and running no matter how cold or hot it is.I guess it depends on the kind of puppy you have!I hope I helped!

  6. HA! some NEVER do lol. my mutt is about 9 years old and she hasn't slowed down yet.
