The shops are normally open till about 7-8pm. It varies from shop to shop and from day to day. For example, big department stores, like Debenhams or John Lewis are open till even later on some days.

In London shops are open a lot later than 4pm or 5pm... it's one of those cities that just doesn't stop moving.

I haven't been down Oxford Street in yonks, but I was in Brixton (in Central London) a few weeks ago at 9pm and there was still shops open.

I was there on Wednesday and at 7pm practically all the shops were still open.

I know 'Late Night' used to be Thursday with stores staying open til 9pm.

If there's one particular shop you want to visit, you can always give them a call and ask for their opening hours.
