When do stores usually begin putting out Halloween items? I want to get a early start. Thanks everyone!

I was in Gordman's a week ago and they had lots of home and yard decorations. Large ghosts, pumpkins, scarecrows, etc. I expect the Halloween stores will be popping up at the malls in Sept. Meanwhile, you could go to Party City. They always have Halloween costumes.

Some stores are putting out their Halloween stuff already.  I've seen costumes in one party store, and candy and decorations in a drugstore.  I suppose the Halloween stuff will be out in full force by early or mid-September.

Do you have a Home Goods store near you?  I work there and we've been getting Halloween stuff since early June and it's been on display since then.

Stores like Toys-R-Us have them out already, many more will have them out at the beginning of September.  Start looking online.  Even if you don't plan to buy a costume online you can start looking at ideas.  Start making a list of your top ten or twenty costume choices, then you can start to narrow it down by looking at online pictures.  Once you've made a decision, make a list of what you'll need for your costume and don't forget a treat bag that coordinates with your cotume if possible if you plan on going trick-or-treating.  Happy Haunting!
