My husband and I are a military family going to be moving to Italy. I am worried about our dogs being on the plane because I feel as if I wont know if they are actually abord being under the plane. So at what point in the airport do you hand your pets over, that are going under the plane?

  1. im am worried about tthat to because as well as me i am moving cross country with a dog and a guinea pig! if you have a small dog (this is what i am doing with my dog) take it to the vet the day of or before heading to the airport and they will give them meds to fall asleep so you wont have to worry about them winneing the whole time. but if you have a big dog do the same and take them to the vet the day of to knock them out!and you wont have to worry about them under the plane!

  2. After you check in, you take your kennel (crate) over to special services and a guy with a luggage cart takes the kennel and wheels it to the backroom. When you arrive, another guy wheels out the kennel. (The kennel doesn't come rolling out onto the carousel, ha ha...)

  3. , THEY ARE IN THE CARGO HOLD UNDER THE PLANE BESIDE   THE LUGGAGE. QUARINTINE PART    YA SHOULD ASK IF THE DOGS GOT ON SAVE..

  4. first you need to make sure your dog breed is allowed to go. certain countries don't let certains breeds or breed mixes into the country (pit bulls, rotweilers, etc)

then to make sure they can get on a plane you need to contact your local italian consulate to make sure you have all the appropriate paperwork for you dog. (most likely microchipping, recent rabies shot, international health certificate stamped by your local USDA)

when you book your tickets tell the airline in advnace you are bringing an animal. if your dog is small he can probably go on board with you. if hes big they will (many times) let you stay with him as long as possible adn then put him into a heated cargo with other animals.

the airline should be clear w/you about the procedure
