When do the gates to downdown disneyland open?

Also, is there anyway to get there other than the tram or by walking through the main disney gates? Thanks

According to the Disney Calendar the "hours vary accoring to location".

I've always walked through the gates. The tram is available but I've never had to use it. I have taken the monorail in on occasion. If you're staying in the Paradise Pier, Grand Californian or Disneyland Hotel you don't have use the main gate or the tram.
