  1. The busiest tourist time is during bird season which is from April to August.

  2. They arrive at this remote island off of Northern Ireland around the start of April -- along with kittiwakes, razorbills and a number of other nesting seabirds.

The puffins will remain in the high cliffs, coves, shores and dune grass areas of the island till late August.

By September they will have departed and returned to the sea -- where they are very well adapted to survive.  The Rathlin Island puffins will spend a good chunk of time in the Irish Sea, the North Atlantic and other nearby waters.  During this time they will occasional make a trip to a nearby shore or a small island.

The cycle renews itself again in April when they return.
