When do the spring and summer sales start in france and how long do they last?

There are two sales periods in Paris. One in Winter and the other in summer. The Winter sales this year ends on February 17.

The Summer sale will begin sometime around July 1 and run for six weeks. I am not sure of the exact dates.

If you shop at Printemps and Galeries Lafayette during the summer sales, prices are usually 30-50 % off of retail. If you live outside the EU,  present your passports at the "Welcome desk" and they give you an extra 10% discount card that is good for the rest of your stay. On top of these, your 12% VAT can also be refunded if you get your paperwork signed.

If you can't be in Paris on the appropriate dates then I suggest you check out the discount shops which sell seconds or merchandise from previous collections. There are a bunch of these in the 14th arrondisment.

You can get there on the RER commuter train. The stop is Val d'Europe . There is also a Cityrama (bus) shuttle service which departs from Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from the Cityrama agency, place des Pyramides, at 10:15 am and returns to Paris at approximately 5:00pm.

Their bigest sales are in the summer in August. That's when the whole country is on vacation. I mean everyone in France has a month of vacation off around that time. but the spring sales starts early like within couple weeks. Hurry! You'll miss out on the discounts on Spring fashion sales.
