  1. Daylight savings takes place at night as to cause the least disruption to daily activities.  You turn your clock ahead (lose an hour of evening daylight) in the Spring.

This annual loss of evening sunlight is just more evidence of the power of man over Mother Nature (like man-made global warming).

  2. Forward.

    Spring forward

    Fall back

  3. For changing between standard time and daylight-savings time, there is a little mnemonic:  "Spring forward; fall back."

  4. Spring is coming

    change it 1 hour forward

    for instance

    it's 4:31am now change it to 5:31am

    try remembering it by saying

    "Fall backward Spring forward"

    that's easy to remember :)

  5. At 12am it becomes 1am.  You  FALL back and SPRING ahead.

  6. It's supposed to be at 2am, and you set it an hour forward.

    "fall back, spring forward"

  7. Spring Back - Fall Forward.

Easy to remember because you would hurt your back if you Fall backwards.

  8. Forward

  9. spring forawd

  10. Spring ahead, Fall back. That's how you remember.

  11. It is Sat., March 8th., but really it is around 2 A.M. on Sun. March 9th., so most people say Sat. night and you spring ahead and lose an hour sleep.

  12. Set it FORWARD an hour before you go to bed.  The official time change occurs at 2:00 AM.

By starting the day an hour earlier, you take advantage of the daylight longer.  You have more daylight productive hours, and it actually cuts electricity usage.

Where I live, it's often light enough to not need lights on in the house until about 9:00 PM (at the mid summer point), so lights are on for a short period of time before bed.

In the winter time, when the days are short, we go back to "Standard Time".  Otherwise, we would be in the dark until 9:00 AM.  We can't have children going to school in the dark, now can we?!

    :)

  13. it's either fall-forward and spring-back or fall-back and spring-forward.

  14. March 9, 2008 at 2am.

"SPRING AHEAD, FALL BACKWARDS" helps some remember.
