When do we get to vote for a representative?

i live in california, when do we vote for representatives and how can we find who's up for it and what they stand for on certain issues? and what's the diff between representative and legislator?

  1. All elections are in November for federal elections.  I'm pretty sure the California state elections are the same day.

    However, the primaries - e.g. when the parties choose their candidates are done earlier and may happen on different days for state versus federal candidates.

    And the "diff" between a representative and a legislator is nothing - A Representative is a legislator but so is a Senator.  Both representatives and senators serve in legislatures.

    To learn who is running and what they stand for you need to find out what district you live in.  For the House of Representatives go to www.house.gov and in the upper right hand corner plug your zip code into the "Write Your Rep" - that will tell you who your federal Representative is.  The CA State Assembly and CA State Senate have similar zip code look ups.


  2. Nov 4th.  Oh, my...you really haven't been paying attention to politics have you?  Try your local papers, TV channels etc.  I'm from FL, I know who's running here and their positions, but don't follow local Kalifornia Politics.
