  1. Save the dates are usually sent out 4 to 6 months before the wedding with the actual invitations sent 8 weeks before the wedding. The magnet are a great idea and becoming very popular with brides and grooms. Your guests can put them on the refrigerator and they'll always be there to remind them.

  2. Usually it is somewhere around 6 months to a year.

We got married last February and sent out our Save The Dates in late August. We had a lot of family that lives across the country, so we definitely wanted to give them a heads up.

EDIT: My friends neighbor makes Save the Date magnets. She did the ones for my friends wedding - they turned out really nice. They are a little bit bigger then a business card. If you want to I would be more than happy to get the contact information for you.

  3. Depends on if you're getting married on a holiday. If you're getting married on July 4th, then send them out now. People make plans way in advance when it comes to holidays. If it's not near the holiday then 6 months would suffice. Then again it is the summer months, and people plan vacations, so it's your call! Good luck.

  4. My parents got married on 4th of July too. Holidays aren't too bad for weddings. Especially one like 4th of July. You can order magnets from vistaprint.com.

  5. I would say 9-12 months ahead would be good... you don't wanna send them TOO early but you wanna give them plenty of time so the date is open, like someone else said, it's not a holiday but LOTS of people take vacations in July, so you want them to know far enough in advance.

A friend of mine is getting married a week from today (!) and she sent hers out in January, I believe... and I'm going to send mine out in either January or February (I'm getting married October 2009)

As for where to find bigger magnets... check http://www.orientaltrading.com/ and http://www.vistaprint.com/

    Good luck! :)

  6. I'm getting married on the same day!!! LOL! Excellent question!! Thanks!

  7. For my save the dates I actually made up something a little smaller then half the size of a standard piece of paper. I printed it on colored card stock that was mauve (one of our wedding colors) and then i attached a small piece of magnet that had adhesive on the back (sold in rolls at craft stores). It was cheaper then doing the business card magnets, and everyone loved them and stuck them right on their fridge!

  8. 6 months to a year

  9. It honestly depends on a bunch of factors.

    1) Do you have a bunch of people that are out of state & would need to book a flight?

    2) How many people are you inviting?

If you have people would would require a flight &/or inviting over 100 people then I would definitely send them out at least 9 months in advance. With everything going on with the airlines & it also being in the summer (so people are more apt to book their vacations), it's better to just get them out there. Honestly, as long as you do not send them out 18 months in advance, then it's never really too early to send them out. But, you do not want to send them out any later than 6 months in advance jsut because it's the summer & you want to make sure they get to your guests before they already plan something for that weekend.

Have you thought about what type to send? I would highly recommend the magnets. When people get the card types, it normally gets lost or goes in the trash withing a few weeks. A magnet they can stick on their fridge & will not lose or forget it :)
