When do you dribble a soccer ball and when do you pass?

Hi, ive got a problem and i need some proffesional advice. Iam currently playing for a soccer team and i play as striker. My problem is im not sure when to dribble and when to pass. Even though i have this temptaion to dribble all and score its not doing any good for my team. And another thing is, to be specific, im a good dribbler but ive got a problem with my teamates cause i kinda fear they might get pissed off if i dribble individually and then loose it. So all im asking is where am i supposed to dribble and when am i supposed to pass and also is it okay if a soccer player dribbles and works indvidually but looses it at the end, is that something i can try?

if it is 1 v1 dribble if you are out numbered look for a good pass

Hey There,  

When you are playing as a striker upfront you should pass when there is someone in a better position than you.  if you think you can dribble past a player and there is space to shoot go ahead and do it.  But the main thing is always look to pass first if you cant find a pass go for a dribble but if you can find a pass do it and get into a better position yourself so you can receive and hopefully score a goal.

Hope this helps. I used to play upfront for my local team. I found that you should always be looking at what your team mates around you are doing and what they're saying, communication is the key. Dribbling is great if your good at it because it can take you past your man and open up space for you and your team mates. You have to make the most of the options available to you, if your buddies aren't in good positions or don't appear to want the ball then by all means dribble but you should be looking and listening as you receive the ball to make sure you don't have a better option. In football you have split seconds to make the correct decision, it takes time and practice to get this right but it's worth it. Always make sure you know what you options are.

Well i lve been playing soccer since I was little and iam a winger so my position requires passing a lot. Iam the outside attacker and I make the crossings for my teamates every position has is roll. For example a striker makes the goals. And is most likely to be seen playing individualy than with the whole team. But soccer is about team work. Meaning that no matter your position on the field passing is a better choise than going for it alone. For example ronaldinho is an amazing player. He can dribble like not many other player can. But if u pay attention unless he is alone in front he will rather pass than go for it against 3 or lets say 2 defenders. That is playing smart. Why. If you go alone in front you can't wait for your teamates because that will bring more defenders on to you unless there's to many already then you stop and think smart. But if there are 3 defenders and 2 fowards is better to make a smary passing game than going by yourself losing it and giving the other team a couter attack. Basicly the answer to this question is simple. Is all about playing it smart. Look around u how many people are there. How many teamates how many rivals. Look for a whole look for and opening or just wait for the right moment. Its all about playing smart. Everyone plays diferent and everytime is a diferent game so only you can find out the answer. Only you can play it smart. Only when you have the ball raise your head visualise what's going on while maintaining your head on the game only then will you know what to do.
