When do you get your license back after a DUI?

In CA, a friend of mine has had a DUI for a year. He was supposed to get it back at the beginning of August but didn't? Is there any reason why he wouldn't have gotten it back in time? I haven't been able to get in touch with him to ask him myself. Just wondering if anyone out there has gone through this.

  1. Some require that you complete a alcohol treatment. There are normally fines (a couple hundred dollars up to thousands) that need to be paid. They require SR-22 insurance (high risk, it costs more) and not sure how it works in your state, but Alaska requires that you pay to have a Breathalyzer installed in your vehicle that you have to blow in each time you start the ignition for a period of time. Best bet? talk to your friend ...

  2. He probably violated his probation, go another one or got a DSL. Glad to see the the system works.

  3. They don't just send your license back.  You have to go to the DMV and apply to have your license re-instated.  In Ohio, there is a reinstatement fee in addition to any fines.  He needs to contact the DMV to find out what he needs to do.
