When do you give in to bifocals, at a certain prescription level or what?

When you cant see at far distances, and have to put a book or computer screen in your face to read it.

When your arms get too short!  HA.  No really, it is about the age of 40 or so.

They make graduated lenses now which don't look like bifocals
