When do you need a Visa to visit Switzerland? How do you determine when it's necessary, how to get it, how much it costs and how long it takes? I'm only talking about visiting, not living permenently or working.

Somebody told me anybody from an EU country can come to VISIT without a Visa. Is this true? The second question is is this wiki entry accurate and up to date in terms of current EU members? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Union_member_state

Thanks.

-> Individuals requiring a visa are required to submit their visa application to the Swiss foreign mission in charge of their place of residence.  For more information:

  2. If you country participate in the Visa Waiver Program., you DO NOT need a visa. Just a machine readable passport and must be valid 6 mos after your visit.

If you are citizen of any E.U., you do not need a visa. But if you are not citizen of any E.U. countries but living there, you still must have a visa.

It is not where you live, it is citizenship which counts.
