When do you order books for college classes?

I am wondering if you order books for your college classes before classes and are there any sites that are good that sell cheap new or used books.

The earlier you get your books for your classes the most likely you will be able to get used ones.  You probably want to save money by doing that.

Books for classes that begin this fall, have been on the campus bookstore shelves for a month.  Most students have already purchased the used ones.  If you buy them on-line make sure you match the ISBN number of the text being used.  On-line sites are notorious for selling out of date textbooks, that you won't be able to return.  (college prof)
