I'm currently 9 weeks pregnant and I was wondering when do I pick my baby's godparents? I already know who I want to pick I just don't know when I should tell them. Does anyone know what's I good time to tell them? All I know is that people usually pick them before the baby is born but I'm just not sure when in your pregnancy do you pick godparents.

  1. You can tell them anytime, but I`d wait until the third trimester...

  2. iit really doesnt matter when you pick them. my mother picked my godmother before i was even born and she did the same to my mother before my god sister was born so i think the timings all on you its your child so i feel you can decide when ever you feel the best time to announce the big news to who ever the lucky people will be.

  3. Whenever.. before you're even pregnant to their baptism (or you might even pick godparents even if your baby isn't getting baptised).

Godparents are a wonderful creation :) I love mine just as if they were my parents.. although sometimes my real parents are jealous. Although my godparents partly raised me when I lived with them for a couple of years.. so yeah.. just remember that a child who's realyl close to their godparents will have a great famiyl life :D

  4. I would talk it over with them first.  Most people would be delighted to be godparents however some people do not.

  5. i asked mine when i was about 6 months i mean there really isn't a time frame for it i just wasn't sure who i wanted until then... my cousin has a 10month old and they still haven't picked his godparents because they didn't get him baptized yet... They just aren't sure who they want

  6. I asked mine around the time of the baptism.

  7. When ever you want i spose. I don't think there is a specific time for it.

  8. You can pick godparents whenever you like.Traditionally the godparents are to be like sponsers for a child being baptised. I don't know about other religions but Catholics must be sure the people that are to be the godparents are active in the church or at least have recieved all their sacraments (baptism, communion, confirmation) They may even have to show they belong to a parish currently. They are like spiritual mentors for the child. Make sure who you pick wants to take on that responsibility. So just tell them you want them to be the godparents before you arrange the baptism so you can make sure they meet the churches requirments and can be there for the baptism. If the child isn't being baptised it doesn't matter when you tell them because it would only be a name your bestowing on friends because thats the whole reason for godparents is for when the childs baptised.

  9. I suppose when you're about 4-5 months pregnant, it's time to let the godparents know that you've chosen them.

  10. Towards the end of your pregnancy.
