When do you pick a pink banana?

We have little pink bananas in our yard.

1.) When do you pick them?

2.) Can you eat them?

If you have the pink banana called Musa Veluntina, it's considered edible by some

... but there are others who consider it to be non-edible.  

When it's ripe, it'll split open & is known as a  'self-peeling' banana.

When ripe, the edible, pink bananas of Musa Veluntina  (also called Heliconia paradise, velvet pink banana, hairy banana, baby pink banana, guineo rosado) with a velvety skin split open at the tip and reveal the white flesh:

Check with the agricultural extension in your area to find out for sure what type of banana plant you have & if it is considered edible before eating any bananas from your plant.
