  1. Fall is the time to plant garlic in all but the coldest areas.  If you live in zone 3 or colder, garlic should be planted in the spring.

    Everywhere else, plant it in the fall and harvest the next summer after the top 1/3 of the leaves have turned brown.


  2. I've had luck with planting it pretty much anytime the ground isn't frozen.  It is a perennial, which means it will just grow bigger if you leave it alone.

    What I do is to use the "seeds" as garlic, instead of digging up the whole plant.  That way it keeps coming back every year, and the roots gets larger and larger.

  3. I'm getting ready to put in garlic in a couple of months. They always seem to do better when I start them in the Fall. I found this link that has some good info, hope it helps.
