When do you recive a letter after you've been approved for ssdi?

my child was approved for ssdi and I am waiting for his award letter, I wanted to know how long it takes to send a notice.

It will probably come as a check in the mail.

Sorta like getting a prize from Ed McMahon from Publishers Clearing House.

They don't give you any warning, they just SHOW UP on your doorstep with the 3 ft X6 ft cardboard check and film you in your curlers and partially open bathrobe, going bananas on your front lawn. Not a video top production but it DOES seem to draw a TV audience.
