When do you start decorating the baby's room?

I'm 4 1/2 months (19 weeks 4 days) but I've been looking at crib bedding sets online and getting all excited. I've already found the bedding set I want and been thinking about how to paint the walls in the baby's room. We already know it's a boy from a clear 3d ultrasound. The bedroom was a guest room that we've already emptied so right now the room is empty. When do most people start doing up their baby's room with paint, furniture & decorations? Should I wait till the last trimester to make sure nothing goes wrong? Or should I wait till just before he is born? Or when??? This is my first baby.

  1. I was in 6 months when I finished my baby's room. You should take caution with painting the room. Wear a heavy duty mask if you plan to do the painting, and keep windows open. Otherwise, ask your husband to do it! My friend, however, was so excited and finished her baby's room when she was only 2 months along. She said it was not a good idea to do it that early because she felt like the it took forever for the baby to arrive.

  2. personally I would wait until trimester three. i am probably the most impatient person ever but I would make myself wait just in case. besides, it's more fun when you have all of the shower gifts to deal with too..I'd wait, thats just me.

  3. if its empty and ready to do now and u have the time and money 2 do it, then go for it just do abit at a time no stretching though i dont agree with wrapping urself in cotton wool when ur pregnant , i believe if u r active through ur pregnancy u will have an easy birth but dont over do it

  4. We waited until the baby was born. He slept in our room for the first 6 months anyway, so there was no need for a nursery.

And wrapping your self in cotton wool means to take care of yourself too much and not do anything.
