He's tuning one on Sunday and he got out of the crib today. My husband wants to take the rails off (converts to a toddler bed) Is he ready for that? (Mom isn't)

  1. If he is already climbing out of the crib then it may be time to take the rails down.  I did it when my little girl was 13 months old and it worked out okay.  It took a couple of months before she stopped getting out of bed at night but once the novelty of no restraints wears off they do okay.  At least mine did.  She is now 22 months and doesnt wander around at night.  You just have to remember that since she can get out of bed you must keep the door closed at night or keep a baby gate up or she could wander all over the house and get into things while you are sleeping.  Mine did this.  I had to learn the hard way.

  2. mmm he's ready

try him like that for a couple of nights

    if your still not happy

    go back to normal

  3. 4 years old

  4. Yeah, because my son did the same thing and if your son can get on and off without no problem, go for it,

  5. I agree with the first poster--if he can climb out on his own, and the mattress is already at the lowest possible level, it's time to take the side off.  Better that he can come and go from his crib than to have him try to climb out one time and fall on his head.
