i am 16, and i really wanna do it, but i don't know if am ready, i am a huge fan of the sport, i watch bouts if i have time, i have a potential hook up to mike tyson, because my friend frm brooklyn has his contact #. The training kit i have at my house are a pair of 14 ounce boxing gloves, a wavemaster punching bag weighs about 230 with base filled, wraps, this boxing dvd from wavemaster.

i want become either a welterweight, super middleweight or a middleweight. i am training my hands to be quicker, but still have a power behind it, my power is really nice, and i am working on my combos, jabs, hooks, uppercuts, from lows to uppers. i work at it about an hour a day, i first stretch, then work on jabs, combos etc. and i also time myself, and i stretch slowly at the end to relax muscles. but i need to be aware of all the rules, regulations, etc, so i am going to do my studying. if anyone has some tips, or comments. please leave some and im also saving for a speed bag. thanks

  2. just go to a local gym in your area. they will give you a coach and he will train you. they probably wont have you doing ameteur fights for atleast 6 months.

  4. What you really need to train for is blocking and moving in the ring.  Once a fighter can't be tagged is when he should attack.  If you have ever seen Roy Jones Jr. or Mohamed Ali, they could move towards you and away, blocking and parrying shots both ways.  This can frustrate an opponent, making them careless trying to tag you.  You could train for this by sparring with friends.  Jumping rope is extremely helpful. Stay on your toes, and when you want to move right, post on your left toe, and in vice versa.  These are a couple of pointers that could help you in getting started in an ameteur boxing career.
