sentence just like the generation that are born in the 30,40,50 and 60s. Way their command of English are in par with the British people and even better than the European. But because of Mamak M policy that change our education system from English to Malay he has totally destroy the command of English among younger generation in our country. We should stick to British Education System (O Level, A Level and etc) not UMNO version of education

  1. Hang on I,ll check the tarot cards and my crystal ball for the exact Date and get back to you!...

  2. My parents' command of English is way better than us their children. They went to English school and we went to Kebangsaan schools. We started to learn English words at standard 2 or 3 (can't remember). And I hate English classes back in standard 5 until form 5.. You see how long.. In that period of time i think I was suffer enough to learn English because of unfamiliarity and the English teachers were suck!!..

Then only I speak and write better English in my early 20's, cause I have gone through a lot and want to have better job..

My advice: Parents should lead their children to know English words in their early stage (age 2 or 3). Get them the familiarity and they will not afraid to use it in school. :)

    Answer: Early twenties.

  3. Well but when i was in Form five, the Spm was already in english, in fact my form 6 was fully in English,, which was just few years back.

We cant blame the education system. I studied in both English and Malay school. Some of the students in the English school cant speak English at all, but some student in the Malay school can speak good english.

All depends on the lifestyle, no matter what school they are in, if they go back home,, the chinese watch chinese serials, indian watch indian drama and Malays watch malay,,or now,,Indonesian dramas. Its all up to the parents, In the mean time, as individuals, if we spot any grammar or spelling mistake, we should feedback to the relevant people, so that the people will realise the importance of English Language.  If we ignore simple things like this, we ignore hindering the improvement of English in our country.

  4. I'm agree with that.

    But For Me:

The government shouldn't use English language in science and math on the primary school students because it will make them confuse, hate to learn English because it's just too hard for them, which that happened to my younger brother...

  5. If the education system changes to the one in the 40's 50's 60'sor early 70's, beginning now, it can happen in about 50 years...it will require at least 2 generations....the present children will learn and develop, proper books and teaching materials readied, teachers properly trained to teach in the English medium, ,... then the following generation follows the example and learn from their parents...

  6. Hmmmmmm.....

    I truly understand...

  7. Sorry, I wasn't being racist here, but just FYI, Anwar is the Mamak. He's from the Indian descent..hehe..

I think the most important thing here is to increase awareness of correct English usage among the younger generation. There is nothing much we can do about our education system, so we need to rise above the tide. We need to overcome the handicap of our education system by our own initiative. Without personal awareness, we will constantly be bullied by the so-called authoritarian leaders

  8. With the current change I presume probably by two more generations' takeover the people here would be able to read and write proper English.

Remember that education actually starts at home...not in school. What's done in school could be undone at home simply by the fact the way the parents speak to their children.I have many Chinese Malaysian friends who write perfect Malay (better than me) but their spoken is rather atrocious as the Malay proper is not being practised at home Thus similarly we have to have an environment of English (proper grammatically not the Manglish or Singlish versions) speaking family at home to create the right mindsets.

So the onus is on the pioneers to maintain or create that environment for the benefit of our future generations.

It does not mean that when we start to speak a language alien to our Mother-Tongue's we would be leaving our culture. As it is now we can see that we dont have to speak the Jinns language to behave like them....

  9. When all people start to accept that English also important for our future generation..

  10. They shall speak and write properly in the younger age than us. This is because the fact that we are somehow similar to the younger generation where we do speak or write properly but in some situation we do not do so  . For example, in everyday life we try to make things simple hence making words shorter and somehow became slangs.

  11. the day will come by itself.
