  1. You have to do it now.  Scotts fertilizer with summer guard is what you can use or you can just use Scotts turf builder and do the grub treatment seperately with a Bayer grub control product.  As previously stated, when you apply this you have to water deeply or it is in effective.

You can treat now.  Get a granular insecticide containing merit.  Remeber this product must be watered in after application to be effective.  If it is not watered in within a day the isecticide will dissipate and no longer work.  You can also treat with one of the milky spore productsnow.  Same deal, they must be watered in.  Milky spore works slower that merit, but lasts for up to twenty years.  You can apply both products at the same time, milky spore for a more permanent solution the merit as a quicker solution.

    Unfortunately most of the fertilizer insecticide products on the market are no longer effective on grubs.  Most use permethrin as an active ingredient now (since Diazanon was taken off the market) and permethrin does not control japanese beetle larvae.
