When do you usually have to pay your college tuition?

Obviously it's before the semester starts, but typically how late can you pay? My program starts in January and it's going to be close money-wise, so I would like as much time as possible before having to pay.

I know every college is different, but I can't find the information and haven't accepted my offer yet, so I was just wondering in general when you had to pay for college.

Like would I be able to put it off for 3 months?

  1. The deadline for most schools is a few days before classes start. The only way to put of paying is to take a student loan. Then, you wouldn't have to start paying it back until after you graduate. But of course, there's the interest on it too, so if you have enough money now to pay tuition and live on until you can get more money, I'd recommend not taking the loan.

  2. It all depends on the school that you go to, some school are more lenient  that other, but usually before the semester ends or before you take your finals.

  3. some schools have payment plans where you pay 1/3 3 times over the semester.  usually the last day to pay is about 2 or 3 weeks after courses start.

if you look online it should say it in the 'academic calendar' it will say something like sensus date, last day to pay, last day for free drop, something like that....
