  1. Not everybody's wisdom teeth do come through and those that do doen't always have to have them removed.  it is only when they start to cause problems that they will need to be removed.  I think late teens/early twenties if they are gonna cause a problem but it can be later or earlier.

  2. They usually come through in your teenage years or early 20's. Some people never get them though, they are hereditary. If you go to your dentist they can take a panoramic x-ray and it will show you where they are positioned and how soon they are to surfacing.

  3. The wisdom tooth or third molar tooth usually erupts between the age of 16 - 25years. In some cases, the third molar doesn't errupt at all, but it's quite rare, but not abnormal.

If the direction of the wisdom tooth eruption is like... going to the front instead of going upwards, then it should be extracted. This is because it can exert unnecessary pressure to adjacent tooth. It is also more prone to get dental caries since its location is quite isolated. It's hard to be accessed simply by toothbrushing. If it starts to be infected by caries, then, it should be extracted as a prevention method, but this principle should not be applied to other teeth as well. For other teeth, we should try to keep them as much as we could. The position of the tooth itself is relatively closer to tongue compared to other teeth might cause abrasion on tongue. After awhile, this could lead to nerve damage, but this is quite rare.

I'm keeping mine though. I'm quite confident I can take care of it well... Hopefully. :P

  4. usually in your teens, as soon as your doc approves.
