When does Fedex require a signature upon delivery?

I'm waiting for a Fedex package that's supposed to come today and it'll probably come when I'm not home. Will they leave it at the door or will I need to sign for it? its not a big package but its worth $300.

If you indicate authorized relaease to Fedex or the company you bought it from does it, they will just leave the package at the door.  I just had flowers delivered by Fedex this way today.

If the shipper requests that you have to sign they you will have to be there IN PERSON. or somebody there to sign it for you.  

  Trust me, this happened to me last week and it was  a pain too because they could have just slid it under my apt. door :(.
