  2. according to one calendar sunday is shaban 30th therefore monday is ramadaan for sure:

    http://www.fatwa-online.com/news/0080830...

    this is the global/international sighting

according to some other calender sunday is the 29th and therefore they'd declare tomorrow about ramadaan on monday or tuesday.  this is the local sighting.

and keep note that following calculation is against the prophet's teaching.  but it is also important to keep unity and therefore u must follow what your local masjid and/or community is following inshallah.

    Astronomical Evidence

Some people suggest using astronomical computations either exclusively or partially for determining the visibility and preciseness of crescent sightings. This is not a new suggestion, as it was raised at the earliest times of Islaam and the Prophet (S) rejected it. Ibn Umar reported that the Messenger of Allaah (S) said: "We are an illiterate nation. We do not use astronomical writing or computation [for our fasting]. A month is so and so (and he pointed with his hands three times, folding the thumb on the third time, meaning twenty-nine days) or so and so (and he pointed with his hands three times, meaning thirty days)" [Bukhaaree and Muslim and Abu Daawood].

Abu Daawood's narration further adds: "Thus Ibn Umar used to end his fasting with the rest of the people without relying on these computations".

This shows that the Messenger (S) wanted to keep this worship simple and at the level of the common people, away from the influence of control of specialized scientific knowledge (whether sound or doubtful). This shows as well, as Ibn Taymiyah stated, that the description of this nation here as being illiterate is one of praise in that the nation is independent of any complicated means in the performance of its basic acts of worship. Anyone who rejects this would indeed overstep the concensus of the scholars and would spoil the beauty and simplicity of this religion, and worst of all, would be bluntly disobeying the Messenger of Allaah (S).

  6. Ok, Egypt, Saudi, UAE, Syria, Qatar, & Pali all say that Ramadan is on Monday. Islamic Society of North America and Islamicfinder.org also agree. Finally we did it scientifically and some people still disagree. How Sad!!! Ramadan is Monday Insha'Allah.

    Kol sana wento tayebeen!!

  7. on the second

  8. Ramadhan Mubarak all Muslimeen.

Coming Monday September 1, 2008  has been announced as

First day of fasting.  Islamic Society of North America does research on what day next moon will show or can possibly be seen by astronomical calculations of experts in this science of Astronomy and decide when to start fasting.

In our Masjid in southern California Sunday night will be first salatul Taraweeh after Isha prayers.

Every Muslim has right to start fasting Monday or Tuesday

or follow Imam of his Masjid.   What ISNA is doing is for the unity of Muslims all over this northern hemisphere of America.

Please Muslims there is no need to argue or start a discussion on this topic  for the sake of unity amongst

Muslims. Whether ISNA  is right or wrong leave it on those who want to follow ISNA.  As I say every one has right to

make their own mind or follow the Imam of their Masjid.

May Allah bless with strength of Iman in observing fasting and special salaul Taraweeh in all Masajids.

  9. it starts either Monday or Tuesday, but Most likely Monday.

    salam

  10. Assalaam Alaikum!

ICNA just announced that there was no moon sighting in the North America, so tarawih namaaz will start tomorrow September 1, and first day of fasting will be Tuesday, September 2. Ma Salaama!
