I got my grandpas old 1981 mercedes 300sd as my first car, and I drive it off campus today and my friends came along and they got to my car and there jaws dropped and they were like "you drive a classic mercedes?!?!" and i ignored them and i saw some friends at california pizza kitchen and we ate ad then left with a huge group of my friends and everyone asked me if i sereously got a classic mercedes as my first car and i was like its a piece of junk cuz its old(even though its been garage kept and in immaculate condition) but i just saw the car as a really old car that my grandpa had since before i was born...he lent it to my mom when she went on her honey moon and we(my twin and i) were born we got picked up in that car...so in my eyes i see it as a really old car...so my question is" is it really a classic?" i want to prove my friends wrong because i think its just old

  1. Snobs at the Classic Car Collectors of America would insist that the only true classic cars were built between 1925 and 1941, but most people use the term much more loosely.

When cars turn 25, many states offer special license plates identifying the vehicles as historic. Many engthusiasts would consider your car a "collectible", or a "special interest." Fans of these cars tend to use these specific terms and "classic" interchangeably.

These "special interest" or "collectible" cars usually are named on the basis of appearance or performance or some type of engineering milestone.

If the retina-scorching presence that is an AMC Pacer can be considetred a classic, your car should be.

  2. Yes. It is a classic.  You need to take really good care of that car. If you will keep it in top running condition, & keep it in a garage(like your grandpa), & looking immaculate. It will be worth some serious money when it turns 30 years old.

  3. after 25 years

  4. AGE

  5. If they do not make the car anymore, it needs to be at least 15 years old to be a classic. example: Honda Prelude and Porsche 959 and Volksagen Scirocco.

If they still make the car, then it needs to be 25 years old to be a classic. Example: VW Beetle, Honda Accord, etc.
