When does a female stop growing? ?

I've heard that girls stop growing at the age of 15-16 and I'm turning 16 this year, some people said usually about 17-18. So, when really does a female stop growing and is there a way for a female to grow taller, faster? Thanks in advance!

I'm dying to know that also, because I have scoliosis and I don't get my brace off until I stop growing - I'm turning 16 this year also. I've heard that once you start getting a normal monthly period, you've stopped. My friend is 14 and her doc said she stopped growing so I honestly don't know. Sorry!
