I have a pumpkin plant with 4 pumpkins on it that are slowly starting to orange. Are the pumpkins still growing while they are turning orange? And how long should I leave them on the vine after they are fully orange?

  1. they will stop growing when the vines die off from the cold.  let them go and enjoy the maturing process.  sounds fun.

  2. They are still maturing. You want to leave them on until they turn completely Orange. The shell should be very hard and resist scratching, use a fingernail. They should also sound hollow when you thump them. I've always left them on until the vine itself starts to dry up

and then cut them off about 3 to 4" up leaving that nice stem on top.
