When does a twig become a stick?

a twig has no joints where another twig was growing out of it

a stick has joints where twigs or sticks were growing out of it

a branch is the entire growth starting from the trunk and to the tip of the leaves, when it gets to about 1/2 of it's original length I'd call it a stick again
