When does a woman's period 'officially' begin...is it at the first sign of 'spotting'?

We're wanting to know exactly when to start counting my wife's menstrual cycle. Does it begin at the very first signs of spotting (red, but quite sparse) or is it when the period comes full force?

  1. Most of the time you  get spottings before the period actually begins. Mines starts out  with spotting then within 6 hours it gets heavy.

  2. Spotting may have nothing to do with your cycle. Some women bleed during ovulation. But if you spot continuously for days it could be a very light menstruation. But your cycle mainly begins when you have a continuous flow for more than 2 days.

  3. Cycle Day 1 (CD1) is the first day of full red flow, NOT spotting.

Good luck to the both of you!  Check out this website, it will teach you SO MUCH about her body, and why it does what it does.  You can pinpoint the EXACT DAYof ovulation.

  4. If you are looking to conceive, start counting when the period begins, either spotting or heavy flow. Always keep track of the first day of the last period on your calendar. To increase your chances of conception, start sexual intimacy during the period or directly after the period ends and continue every three or four days during the monthly cycle. This increased your chances of conception as your sperm will be already laying in wait for the egg to drop. Your sperm have a life of 5 days. Your partner is the most fertile when the discharge is clear not cloudy. Ovulation can be random. Some later moms ovulate directly after the period and this will help you to take advantage of an early drop.

The pre-ejaculate contains the most potent sperm, the man does not need to ejaculate and it is good if the woman orgasms during intimacy. Make use of the pre-ejaculate during intimacy. Deep penetration positions will also help the woman to o****m and assist with increased possibility of conception. Best wishes, G

  5. i would say if your trying to figure out your cycle or if your late to be safe it would by the first day of actual bleeding maybe not heavy bleeding but enough to have to us a pad or tampon..
