  1. NEVER

Its against the law to tamper with the odometer in any car/truck .. unless your talking about the trip meter most cars come with for figuring mileage to and from a place as well as gas mileage.. then anytime you want.

But the actual odometer is to be never tampered with as it would falsify the mileage on the car/truck if ever sold...

  2.   Its aganst the law to reset an odometer. Now if you are talking about the trip meter than as it fits your need, checking your milage, how far is it from where you are yto where your going etc.

  3. As others have answered, it is illegal to reset an odometer to misrepresent the mileage.  However, a 1987 model may have only had the capacity of 99,999.9 miles.  In that case, your Olds may have 168,000 miles, rather than 68,000 miles on it.

  4. never its ilegal!!! the only reason to put a new odometer in a car is if the car was in a really bad accident where the odometer got damaged then they would put a new one in with the original mileage

  5. Umm.  reseting an odometer is illegal i'm pretty sure.  so therefore, it doesn't.

  6. it doesn't to be reset   never, never, never
