  1. The weather in Germany is generally similar to New England and the seasons start on the same dates as the US.

  2. summer starts 21st June 2008 at 01:59 MESZ

autumn starts  22nd September 2008 at 17:54 MESZ

  3. Officially . Summer will start 21June and end up 3 month later and the Fall  will start , end up 3 month later, i guess you can count easily. but what you can not count it that the real Summer start in SEPT and OCT. Here in Germany they call it Golden month because the sun on all most of the time. they are the best two month for me.

  4. Same like in any other country in the western hemisphere

  5. Binie answered the astronomical beginning of the seasons correctly.

Unfortunately the weather does not always stick to the season :-(

Recently weather behaves crazy and you can have 10 degrees in July as well as in January.

  6. Now that you have the astronomical data*, here's my felt opinion about it: You can consider June, July and August as the summer months. Autumn sets in in September. October is clearly autumn, while November is already pretty much winter.

I disagree with chapinero's opinion that the weather behaves "crazy". There have always been cool summers in Germany (10°C in July, however, is rare), as well as extremely hot ones (I remember 2003, one of the hottest ever). That's just central European climate. It always has been unreliable and unsteady.

*: The astronomical dates are the same worldwide, just the time of day varies a bit, as the earth is turning. They have nothing to do with the weather; it's just dividing the year into four quarters that have season names.

  7. summer starts on June 21

    autumn (fall) starts September 21

    winter starts december 21

    spring starts march 21
