Hi all! I'm thinking about enlisting in the US Navy in less than two years from now. When does day one of my pension contribution time actually start after joining the US Navy? Does it start the minute I sign on the dotted line of the contract, before/after boot camp, first day at "A" or "C" school, first day of first duty assignment, or at another time? If I go in, which I think I'll end up doing, I want to get the make sure that every minute towards my military retirement in 20 years counts. I'll initially go in as an E-3 but after boot camp is over, I was told by a Navy recruiter that I'll be an E-5 because of my college education. But when I go in less than two years from now, I'll also have a Master's degree. Any answers would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
