Would you say you look forward to not having to do the garden or do you like me miss having that time to just relax and keep it all in order?

Thanks for your answers.

  1. It would be helpful if you gave an idea where you are. If you are in the south of England like me then I would expect most hedges to stop growing by early October. Now is the time to trim hedges like beech which shouldn't need another trim this year. Others like Privet will.

As for grass any time the soil temperature is 5C (41F)  or higher (for the lawn grasses in this region) the grass will grow as long as there's enough moisture. I would normally expect the grass to slow down by mid-late October but lately the autumns have been so mild that I have had to mow through November.

  3. It is all down to temperature. Because of the climatic changes the poor things don't know what day it is. If it is warm enough they will keep on trying to grow.
