When does it become justified for a man to hit a woman?

There really isn't a reason for anyone to hit anyone. Oftentimes in "self-defense" we think we're justified in hitting someone else, but this is often not the case.

However, to simply answer the question, there are very few situations where hitting a woman is acceptable: doctors may hit a woman to get her heart beating. A female footballer may get hit in a tackle. A female boxer will inevitably get hit - same as in all contact sports.

If a woman is hitting you to hurt you - walk/run away. This is not a pride issue, but a common sense issue. If you are unable to walk away, then use what abilities you have to suppress the attack - but try not to stoop to the same level by simply hitting the person.  A big hug usually suffices.
