Question:

When does progressive myopia stop (q. for eye doctor or optician)?

I have had progressive myopia (nearsightedness) since I was 7 or 8 years old. My prescription changed rapidly in 2002 from -4.00 diopters to -5.00 by 2006. Since around 2007 I haven't had any major changes in my prescription (I assume there isn't if you don't have the usual 'blurry lens' or 'fingermark' effect when you have glasses on).

I am 20 years old, when will this stop as I don't want to keep losing my vision as when I'm 50 I'll be wearing -25!

Thanks.

  1. Yours may have already stopped.

Most progression stops at around 20...although some still see a couple of fairly big changes up to 24, 25...

If you have already been about 12-18 months with no noticable change, that is a very good sign.

Having started so young, you are lucky it didn't get worse than a - 5.00...a small blessing...lol
