  1. It is a very Grey area and different employers (and different Countries for that matter) have different viewpoints. The most usual definition of skilled is when you obtain a formal qualification in the particular discipline either by way of Apprenticeship, NVQ's or City & Guilds (in UK).

If you look at the immigration skills status requirements of various Countries you will find some countries will ONLY rate you as skilled if you have formal qualifications, no matter how long you may have actually been doing the job.

  2. Ok start with the job title or requirements or rating etc...The job title as you say is semi skilled..In other word if you were to quit your job tomorrow then the employer would replace you with a semi-skilled applicant. Please don,t take that as an insult ..Now when you refer to a skilled position this generally refers to a job requirement that needs filled by a journeyman of that particular field or has a technical school, trade school, university, and maybe military training..They may even have a license or be a member of a certifying agency. Example a Registered Nurse, or journeyman electrician..All that said I have seen companys rate jobs by labor grade skill everything really for that reason pay rating purposes

  3. If you had the minimum qualification to join a bank as a clerk you are semi-skilled bank clerk. While working there you enrolled and sit for the banking examination of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, London. After you had passed the examination and admitted as a Associate of the Institute, you can be regarded as a skilled or qualified banker.

  4. i would say that after 12 months, you would be classed as skilled, are there any other people doing the same job, what is their situation..!...<^><..

  5. good question...i would like to know, at first when i started my job, i didn't think i could do it, now i'm not only doing that job, but more, do i ask for more money during my review???

  6. I've always understood that skilled meant serving a recognised apprenticeship. Semi skilled, to me, is someone doing part of a skilled persons duties. eg a semi skilled person cannot do the same job as a skilled person whilst a skilled person CAN do tasks that a semi skilled person can do.
