When does snowboarding/skiing season end?

Question

I'm trying to go up to the slopes a few more times this season. Does anybody know when the season officially ends or when the snow starts melting and it won't be nice anymore?

Snowboarding season never ends... your local resort might close - and probably does.  However, there are glaciers to ride on in the north and many areas in the southern hemisphere like Chile and New Zealand.   I wish I had the money to try both of those options!

Just call your local resort to ask when they cose.

That's a tough one to answer.

A ballpark answer would be the end of March or biginning of April for local resorts, maybe longer this year. Use the link below for reasonably reliable snow reports.

I grew up in Westminster, CA and did a lot of skiing in Big Bear and Wrightwood (Mountain High).  Snow Valley is also an option (up around Running Springs) but is not likely to be open longer than the others.

Also, look into Mountainboarding...

If you've never been to Mountain High, GO THERE!

It's a much easier drive (less mountain road driving) and has good terrain.

You can also drive to Mammoth Mountain, which will have snow long after the local resorts have closed.

NEVER DUDE NEVER!!!!    THERE IS always a place to go ride.  ALWAYS...  And if you ride freestyle, find an ice sk8ing rink, that is year round, they usually have slushing crappy snowy icy stuff that they will just give you and you can make a little jib or something in the backyark for a little summer sesh!

I usually ski to around March 20th. it definitely will be open for a few more weeks. But then again it depends where you live for example: I live in Ontario and we do not get much snow so it ends in the middle or so of March but Whistler gets 20+feet of snow so it ends in late May, when you can summer ski. Once again it depends on how much snow you get, how your resort thinks and where you live.

When the customers quit buying lift tickets and the resort is not making money.  Some time about the first of April for most, the other consideration is their insurance policy may end on 1 April.

It varies from year to year and depending on the altitude.

In Saas Fee, Switzerland, the season never ends as there is snow all year round!

The future isn't so bright..........the average season is becoming shorter as our climate is becoming warmer!

Snowdomes might be the only way to ski or snowboard :(:(:(

Where da h**l do you live?  Northern California... you're looking at mid or end of May.
