Shops are beginning to bring prices down around now to make way for autumn and winter stock.

From now until August the sales will be starting, depends on which shops you are wanting to visit really.

there is already heavy discounting in a lot of shops as they try to encourage more footfall. I don't think there's a particular date when every shop has a sale though.

Where the sales are concerned - it varies from shop to shop. As soon as the Autumn / Winter stuff starts coming in, the sale rails will start growing. They usually start in August where I live (Suffolk, UK).
