When does the linea nigra appear during pregnancy. if any?

i am now going on 22 weeks pregnant, and i remember with my first child i got it sooner and then it darkened.. i am kinda on the pale side, but not too pale. is there a chance i wont ever get one? one more thing. when did yours appear and was it a line coming from under your breast all the way down to the pubic area or just the belly button down? did you have a boy or girl with what line marking.. just curious if that sounds strange to ask.. someone told me that sometimes and this can be a old wives tale, but depending on the line being up highter and then going all the way down to the pubic area it was a girl as opposed to the line starting at the belly button and ending at the pubic area.. with my son, it was from my belly button then down and with my 3 sisters it started under the breast and went all the way down.. all 3 of them had girls. love to hear your results.

I am 16 weeks pregnant now. This is my 5th pregnancy. I only had the line with my first pregnancy. Maybe you will be the same.

Mine showed up sometime during the 5th month. Bellybutton down, and I had a girl. It took forever to go away after delivery!

I think that if you got one with your first pregnancy, you'll get one with this one as well. I thought mine would never come and then it finally started showing in my 7th month. I'm interested in seeing if you'll have it from the top to the bottom since you are having a girl this time. I still have the line. Its starting to go away though. But I love the fact that its still there, cause every time I see it I think of my daughter.

Mine showed up at about 5 months.From about 4 inches above my belly button then all the way down..I had a girl..I'm 7 weeks post partum on Monday and I still have it..Hopefully it goes away soon!

I'm fair skinned and I never got one.  I think it is possible that you won't get it.  I have one girl & one boy.

I haven't got one at all and I am 38weeks. I guess some get it and some don't. I have stretch marks insted!! I think I would prefer the nigra line any day!!  I'm having a boy... congrats

I think they can show up anytime throughout pregnancy but ALOT of women dont get them at all.

Mine showed up around 18 weeks.  At that point, it was only from my belly button down to my pubic bone.  Now the line continues all the way up to my b*****s.  I am having a girl.  I am quite pale-skinned and the line is a darker tanned colour.

i have a dark one from my belly button down and a lighter one above my belly button half way up. i'm dark complected which i think it shows easier in darker skin. i noticed the one below my button at around 9 weeks, and the one above at around 11.

i got it around hmmmm 20weeks i think or less? but it has always been soooooooo light and more i go out in the sun to get a little tan it gets darker. I have it going from right under my breats to the pubic bone so its taking up my tummy but it isnt that dark.

im 36 weeks with my first and i'm having a girl and i don't the linea nigra however i do have awful stretch marks that didn't appear until three weeks ago. Good Luck

That whole s*x thing with the linea nigra is an old wives tale. I just started to get one and I will be 7 months in a few days. From my understanding, it's normal to see it starting around the 5th month. Some lucky women don't get one at all!

i have very fair skin and i got mine around 25-27weeks i can't really remember which but mine was belly button down but on the light side...i had a girl. i still have the line though. but i carried low the whole pregnancy.

Mine did not appear until 31 weeks and it was over night . Mine is from the top of my belly button up my stomach . As far to the pubic bone lol have not seen that in a while LOL .  I'm having a girl .

I am 27 weeks, and i just noticed mine appear this week. I am having a boy and I have a line from the bottom of my belly all the way up to the top...but it is kind of strange, when the line gets to my belly button it dosent match up with the line from the belly button up.
