  1. I don't know what state you live in but I've never heard of a night speed limit here.  The only smarter thing you can do when its dark or raining or snowing to where the road is wet increase your following distance so if someone in front of you slams on the brakes you can stop safely without making contact with their car.

  2. Depends on the state, but in some states it's when the sun sets.

  3. There is no "night" speed limit.  There is only the rule that state you must lower speeds for hazardous conditions.  If it's snowing or raining or dark or the road is icy you must drive a safe speed, even if that is lower than the posted limit.

  4. at night

  5. Dusk to dawn.

  6. Dusk to dawn is correct.  A rule of thumb is if you should have your headlights on or if streetlights are on, it's night driving conditions and night time speed limits apply.

To those who don't know, there are states that have night speed limits.  Texas is one.  The route I take to my dad's home has posted  day and night time limits.
